I phoned for an appointment to have an eye set after receiving my letter and attended minutes before time. I was told my appointment wasn't at my usual shop but round the corner where I had to go. My test took so long I was only able to attend and go home as my time was limited. When I complained about the time it had taken (Two hours and thirty five minutes) they couldn't see any problem. I have never been anywhere else for my eye tests as I thought that this was needed for the continuity of my care. I now know that that doesn't matter to them. In that case I will now choose to go elsewhere. Time is important to me because I care for my husband 24 - 7 and only have 4 hours in a week to do what I need to do. I was left with travelling time only and It meant that my only free time was down to about 20 minutes. I know they were not to know that but when I pointed it out to them they could see no problem that it took that time. Also I was not told that I wasn't going to my normal place,.Neither shop had any respect for their customer.

The optician showed a total lack of empathy or understanding of my concerns regarding a sudden change of vision in one eye. Instead I was subjected to a tirade on the fact that my glasses had no anti reflective coating. By the time the main problem with my eye had been diagnosed, the store was closing. So I had to leave before the optician could deal with the other reason for my visit, I.e. a new prescription for distance work, including driving. Won't be going back! I visited Boots opticians for a routine eye test in October. The assistant took some details and then I underwent 3 tests for eye pressure, peripheral vision and photograph of the back of my eyes. I then saw the optician who did not explain any of the test results, except to say that I had slightly raised eye pressure and they wanted the test repeating before I left the store. They asked the assistant to do this, but they did not mention it to the assistant they passed me overs to. I had to raise it and they did repeat the test and said the pressure was still raised. They said they could do another test which involved putting anaesthetic drops into my eyes but I refused this.as I did not feel they were sufficiently competent to carry this out.I saw a Consuktant eye surgeon privately and was told there was no problem with the pressure behind my eyes and that no further treatment for this was required. I was very relieved as you can imagine. Their customer care is shambolic and not what I would expect from a private enterprise. You never see the same assistant or optician and are passed from pillar to post for fitting, measurements etc. I will never use them again Reply from Boots Opticians Professional Services Ltd Thu, 10 Nov 2016 11:37:04 Z Thank you for sharing your concerns.
