In the last nine months we have not had a repeat prescription dispensed correctly. We always have to pick up parts of prescriptions twice each month, often pick up a third time, and sometimes pick up a fourth time. Today I was waiting for life preserving medication which had been ordered a week ago. They had still not put it together despite claiming that they should be ready in 72 hours. Today they told me they had no sodium chloride solution. I asked for the common name, saline, and they found it straight away. If they do not know something as basic as a different name for salty water then how would they know enough to safely dispense more dangerous medications? |

Terrible service to vulnerable patients who depend on repeat prescriptions - my mums prescription has never changed in the last 2 years yet every time it's time to collect her medication it is 99.9% of the time incorrect - and inconsistent - we are constantly advised to contact the doctor to review again - the doctor does not just change prescriptions willy nilly and certainly not without informing the patient. we are bounced around from pharmacy to doctor to specialist almost every time - unacceptable - as we all know you can't just ring the doctor and expect to get through straight away - my elderly parents were advised to come and go for five consecutive days and had to wait until 5.30 on the last day before my mums medication ran out for them to make an exception to put the dosset box together - why couldn't they do this before? Why did they mess my parents around like this? and then supply some of it, not all of it - then advised come back to get the rest!!! and even then, still not supply all of it, instead we are asked to call the doctor, again? !! She is left without the full medication that she needs and is prescribed for her very delicate situation - Unbelievable - also, one minute you get a dosset box, the next minute you get lots of little boxes, the next you get a new box - the worst is that on many many occasions some significant medication is just left out!!!!! How is this allowed to happen? On another occasion my mum ended up taking morning and evening medication all at the same time - how are we meant to trust the right medicine is in the box????!!!! This is no longer acceptable for a pharmacy to mess around any patient, let alone patients who rely heavily on correct and up to date medicine, what if something worse happens? Are other patients getting their medication mixed up? Surely, the medication needs to be checked and double checked and even triple checked before it goes in the box and issued to the patient? Is this the least we should expect? No, it seems , you risk the patient relying on what's in the box as correct? I'm absolutely gobbed smacked this is allowed to happen, and truly hope no other patients get issued incorrect or less than what they are prescribed, and something terrible happens? Are we not protecting the NHS here, and wellbeing of the patients ? this pharmacy is clearly not helping and not really fit for purpose - Telling us to contact the doctors who are already busy, messing very vulnerable people around making them wait and wait and wait, come and go, come and go, and still not provide what they are prescribed?! There are no more words. We need to change pharmacy, this is clear, even though they are on our doorstep, but, it is unacceptable to treat patients this way and further investigation into why this is constantly happening needs to happen ASAP! |
