Excellent service, visitors to the area and were looked after well by the pharmacist for two unrelated requests. Lucky for people who are local to have such a decent pharmacy

I was visiting friends and had forgotten a regular pharmacy only medication. I buy it every month as it is cheaper than a prescription and be cause I buy it every month, I know how much it is. Even in London it is £7.11. I was charged £10.50! When I queried this I was simply asked whether I wanted it or not! In my view it is unacceptable to take advantage of tourists in this way! I have just left the shop which was full of customers. There were three members of staff and how the sales assistant kept her cool, I do not know. I was picking up a prescription item which had not been available earlier on in the week and I was told it still was not in stock. The customer behind me was collecting a prescription which had not been available when he had called several days earlier and which was in fact made up whilst he waited, some 20 minutes. No apology for the delay was offered by the male assistant.
I am quoting these two instances because they are not rare occasions but seem to be the norm.
One or two of the staff endeavour to be helpful but that too is not the normal. The atmosphere in the shop is quite electric - the staff because there are so many customers, either making return calls or collecting prescriptions for the first time. The customers are edgy because of the long wait or the inability to locate prescription items.
I feel it necessary to draw your attention to this situation because it is likely to blow at any given moment.
Bourton is a lovely little town and the people are usually very tolerant, but I try believe that the situation in Rowlands Pharmacy has gone beyond any limits of service. Original Comment Report...
