I guess my expectations may be unrealistic, however I find this home disappointing. Most of the rooms are tiny, none has en suite facilities, and the whole place is tired and lifeless, though it is reasonably clean. The staff are generally positive and friendly, but many do not appear to be very professional, and there generally appears to be a shortage of staff on duty at any one time.
My Mum has been there for 9 months and during that time her condition, well being, and mobility has deteriorated and no one seems bothered about this. She is now immobile and needs help when she needs to use the toilet. She presses a buzzer but often has to wait 15-20 minutes for someone to attend to her needs. She is then helped onto a commode in her room - no one ever takes her to the toilet.
Similarly she rarely leaves her room for meals and often stays in her bedroom all day. Due to the limited number of staff on duty, if she does occasionally venture to the dining room for a meal, by the time she is wheeled there everyone one else has finished!
Also, no one ever appears to monitor her general health. It was left to my sister to arrange for a doctor to visit when my Mum became unwell. The connection between the home and the local health practitioners appears pretty flaky.
