Our mother was in this home for a few weeks. Although a lot of the staff were ok the food was not good and once when asked for a cup of tea a cup of soup was bought to mum in which she put in her own teabag - yuk. The cleaning left a lot to be desired and petals from flowers taken during first week were still on the floor a day before mum was discharged. Five phones calls we’re received during discharge day giving five different arrival times home. No discharge papers were sent to the doctor until several complaints were made. One day mum did not receive a supper because the chef forgot to put the jacket potatoes in the oven. This experience was totally different to an earlier stay at a home in Hove. The home needs a total refurbish as not very motivating two look at a dark brown internal wall.

I was taken into craven vale after a serious hip problem . I found the staff very nice friendly and always professional . I was treated with dignity. Also they catered for my dietary needs The cleaners do a good job and the staff have a nice chat with you if they are not run off there feet it can get busy in there if everyone wants them at the same time but the staff cope very well with it The thing that shocked me is how rude and ungrateful some of the patients could be. I'm not talking people with dementia or people that are not fully aware of what they are doing. I'm talking people that are rude abusive and very ungrateful the staff kept there cool all the time far better than I ever would have done there is no excuse for rudeness these people are there to help the patients not there personal slaves some some patients seem to think. Would have no hesitation sending a relative to craven vale as I know they would be well looked after. Max

I spent almost two weeks in Craven Vale. My room was spacious, sunny and overlooking a garden. My bathroom was large, well equipped and always with a load of towels. The staff were truly amazing, they could not have done more for me, constantly asking me if I needed help or attention. I really don't know how to thank them they were amazing. The two OT's took care of me and helped me i with their suggestions, without their help I would have had a much lengthy stay. Nothing was too much trouble and I thank all of the staff of The Craven Vale. Chef I enjoyed all of your baking especially the Bakewell Tart with custard, I thought I was back at school. My only slight criticism would be the dated alarm system. I would like to thank the manager and all of the staff for taking care of me. Thorine Terence Sadler. (Terry)
