Whitstable Nursing Home

Some homes would make The Dorchester look positively second rate. The Whitstable Nursing Home is not one of them. It could do with a coat of paint, matching light bulbs and the car park cobbles being re-laid. None of this matters however. What does matter, as we all know, is high quality compassionate care delivered professionally. In this respect, The Whitstable shines head and shoulders above all others - and trust me, I've been to a few! Within the first month of being resident, my father decided to stop taking all his (life supporting) medication - his decision because he said it was making him feel depressed. He has been resident now for four months and yet he is healthier and fitter now than he has been for many a long year. He laughs. He smiles. He chats to others. He has a healthy appetite. He says the food is 'amazing'. He says 'they keep the place clean'. He says the staff 'care'. He says he likes living there. He says there is always somebody around if he needs help. He says he feels 'really good'. In theory, according to his GP, my father should now be dead. Instead, he is positively thriving. No one - health care professionals, care staff, friends - can believe it - least of all me! This place has performed a minor miracle.
