Nov 13 2014 I visited and researched a number of care homes for my aunt, who has dementia, and Braywood came out top. I felt welcome the minute I walked into the clean and fresh smelling reception. The rooms are clean, the cafe has tea making facilities, ice lollies and home baked cakes, there is a bar in the lounge and regular entertainment and activities are organised. Visiting hours and family participation is unregimented unlike some homes. My aunt constantly tells me how well she is cared for. The manager, Richard, is visible and approachable, encouraging regular family/residents meetings to discuss ideas and issues. I would highly recommend this home.
Original Comment Report...Braywood Gardens Care HomeBy: Anonymous Rating:.. Jul 28 2013 My mum was transferred to the intermediate care unit at this home and had a terrible, avoidable incident. The local county council recorded it as a safeguarding issue. Staffing and skill levels seemed low. Check out the CQC report - they found similar deficiencies a couple of months later. I don't blame the staff too much - they don't know what they don't know. Based on observation and their poor reaction to the incident, i suspect the problem lay with the management.
