Decoy Farm

Decoy Farm and Barn are nurse led services for 9 adults with a learning disability and very complex needs. The site consists of 3 services run in 3 attractive buildings; they run alongside each other rather than separately i.e. people we support are welcome to visit the other service on an as and when basis, provided all is well. Decoy Farm provides services for 5 people. Facilities are shared although everyone has their own bathroom. Decoy Barn provides accommodation for 3 people in self contained apartments comprising bedroom, lounge, kitchenette and bathroom. We also have Decoy Lodge which is similar to that of the Barn in terms of it being a single service. Both the Barn and Lodge are most suited to people who require “their own space” and may find excessive interaction with others distressing, but like to have the option of engaging with others when they want to, not because they have to.

The majority of the people we support have been previously detained in hospital under the Mental Health Act. At Decoy, we employ Learning Disability and Mental Health nurses therefore having the knowledge and skills to provide extensive support for those who live with us and to the support staff in order to help prevent re-admission to hospital.

We believe that Decoy really is a special place, recognising that support should evolve to meet each persons’ changing needs as they move through life. We deliver person-centred support to encourage development of individual life-styles, acquire new skills and work towards their personal goals.

We fully believe that the relaxing environment, the attitude of all support staff and the quality of support received go a long way to providing a service whereby individuals can feel safe and secure which in turn can open so many doors for them.
