We researched care homes for an elderly relative. We chose this one as the staff were lovely when we went to view and annswered all our questions. Felt like a very caring place.
My relative was cared for well however the promises we were given just weren't kept. They failed to stimulate and achieve the best from my relative. Staff were more interested in keeping notes. We had to inform staff time
And time again about the same things but nothing changed. We felt very let down. |

My Dad has just passed away after being at Eden Mansions since 2012. The home itself never has any unwanted smells, although I have to say walking past the kitchen has often made me feel hungry! The rooms and communal areas are clean, bright and welcoming. The staff are truly amazing, I did not differentiate between the staff as from top to bottom they were all caring towards the residents. My Dad went through several bad patches as his dementia progressed but the staff were incredible, I cannot even say that a single staff member made me concerned for my Dad, they all have hearts of gold and have my utmost respect for their commitment to the residents. The staff are always willing to talk through any concerns or worries you might have, as we as a family had not previously dealt with dementia we had many questions, the staff never made me feel silly for asking even minor things, they would phone to let us know if he had a fall or some other minor thing, you might say 'well if they are looking after them they shouldn't fall' accidents do happen as residents are not restrained, not given drugs just so staff have an easy time, and believe me I have seen the staff move like ninjas to stop a fall. The way the staff interact with the residents, chatting, holding their hands, words of encouragement, singing, even just sitting close so the resident feels close to someone is actually a joy to watch because when you go home you know your relative is getting the best care there is, oh and for the cynical who might want to say the staff are like that because they know when you are coming, I went at various times, always unannounced and the level of care never failed to impress me. I believe that the staff are what make a care home, cleanliness, surroundings, activities, food are obviously important but if the staff are not committed the residents, your family member, will not be happy. When my Dad was here he was happy at Eden Mansions, he loved the staff and we were happy. |
