Allswell Lodge

My brother who is autistic receives support from Allswell Lodge for some time. As a resident from a neighbouring borough we have received respite before but it is the first time that we have consistent and regular respite. Allswell Lodge is spacious and has a comfortable homely ambience about it and the staff are friendly and professional. If only there were more like it in other boroughs.

We were invited on the occasion of "Summer Fair" at the Lodge. I have rarely experienced such happy atmosphere, among a group of people comprising the residents at the Lodge, carer staff and guests from different backgrounds. The enthusiasm of the staff was infectious and their relationship with the residents seemed cordial and truly caring. I was shown around the facilities and en suite accommodation that seemed tidy, clean and appropriate. The lounges have good provision for rest and recreation, e.g TV and radio. The place is staffed all the time with the visiting carers sharing the time and duties. We were treated to freshly cooked snacks and food, which indicated the quality of nourishment available to the residents. More important, the ability of the staff to create such pleasantness showed that the residents could be in good hands!

We have used Allswell for nearly two years and they supply weekend respite care for our sister who is a Downs lady.They have helped us out a number of times and we could not ask for a nicer, safer and lovely place for Sue to stay
