Birchy Hill Care Home

My mother was in Birchy Hill Care Home for 10 months. It was the fifth care home she had stayed in over the last 5 years, two of which were for respite care. Without a doubt Birchy Hill was the best Care Home my Mother stayed in. From the Manager down to the person that did the cleaning, were, without exception, the best I have come across. The atmosphere in the home is always very friendly, staff never passed by without speaking to you, and they all knew what was going on. When visiting you felt so at home, nothing appeared to be too much trouble and a cup of tea or coffee was always offered on arrival. I always found my mother well cared for, she was clean, in clean clothes and well groomed. The staff always took the trouble to put on her earrings, bracelets etc. to match her clothes. Despite having dementia she liked to be dressed smartly. Her room was, as was the rest of the care home, always spotless. The home never smelt like a typical care home which made it even more pleasant to visit. The care staff were, without exception, the most caring, considerate, kind and efficient carers that we have ever met. Nothing was too much trouble. The Manager was always approachable, and occasionally I would bump into the chef who, on the day my mother arrived, spent a considerable amount of time detailing Mother’s list of likes and dislikes in food and drinks. The nursing staff also took details about her past and present health etc. We were also asked about what entertainment she liked/disliked. This was the only Care Home my Mother never complained to me about. I would recommend this care home without hesitation. A great place with great people!!!!!!
