My mother was only in Tall Oaks for 2 days when she had a major stroke, I was not informed until about 11 on the Sunday morning, When the Paramedics and the stroke team asked for information on what time my mother was last seen and seemed ok. This information was not available. 3 weeks later I went to Tall Oakes to pick up my mum’s belongings because it was obvious that she would not be recovering enough to leave hospital. It was pandemonium and the deputy had to leave us quite a few times. I asked if they could give me a report on what happened that morning and why I was not rang until 11 when they could not rouse my mum and could not give a morning time when she was woken. Where was her medication/breakfast? My mum had bedsores and was discharged from Haywood hospital with instructions that she needed 24hour nursing care and she had to be turned every 2 hours. Where was that? When I went to my mum’s room it was obvious that it was or had been used by someone else. The day after my mum’s funeral I rang to dispute invoices that had been sent as I had still not received a report and my room’s room had been used. The manager knew nothing and said they would look into it. They rang 2 days later to say the invoices were written off. I had still not had a report and the room use was denied. After getting in touch with the care commission the final report was that the care seemed to be ok but there were discrepancies and corrections in the notes. The nursing was inadequate at logging the reports and the management failed in informing the family with information. I was sent a letter of apology from the management and a report from the investigation. There were lies in the report, one being the admission of using the room for someone else and said this was told to us. It had not. The nursing was also bought into question. I cannot trust what went on. |
