My Dad has been in the Woodland Residential Care Home for 7 months, and I feel that I am now in a position to give a good overall appraisal. My Dad had been very poorly during 2017 and he decided that it was time to consider a care home for him to live in. Very reluctantly I set about searching for somewhere that would meet my rather high standards of the care that I felt would be right for my Dad. After visiting 14 care homes throughout Shropshire, the Woodlands was the one that I felt immediately comfortable with, and 7 months later I have absolutely no regrets. My Dads needs have been catered for wonderfully from the very beginning. Before he moved into his room at the Woodlands, the room was decorated, newly furnished, carpeted, even included Dads colour choice of curtains and bedding. The manager (and part of a lovely team of administrators) organised all of this, even down to making arrangements for my Dads favourite rise and recline chair to be transported from his home and installed in his new room at the Woodlands. Dad has a lovely bright warm, airy room, which looks out onto the gardens that surrounds the property. Each day I feel reassured that all of Dads needs are met, which is down to a team of dedicated professional carers that look after Dads safety and welfare 24 hours a day. The food at the home is extremely good, with a very good varied choice, and the fantastic kitchen and dinning staff will always cater for anything that Dad prefers. The home is always very clean, and you can see that lady in charge of housekeeping, along with her team have high standards. She also organises the Social care side for the residents, with activities each day, including days out when possible, all of which my Dad enjoys very much. There are parties arranged in the summer, and at Christmas. For bonfire night the owner of the care home with all of his team organise a party with a wonderful firework display. For fun, at Halloween, there are decorations around the home, and at Christmas it looks wonderfully festive with decorations everywhere, decorative lights inside and out, and a brightly lit and decorated tree adorns the main room. The owner, and his partner live on the premises, and are very much involved in the care home, which is one thing that I felt incredibly reassuring. I always have a lovely warm greeting, with care and consideration from all of the staff whenever I visit or phone. In a nutshell, The home has a special, unique quality and I feel lucky to have found it for my Dad. |
