Bonaer Care Home

My great aunt was placed at Bonaer due to lack of carers available to deliver home-based care. While reticent about care homes, we have found the staff (from management to nurses to carers and kitchen staff and cleaners) to be very person centred, empathetic and very accommodating. The managers always make time for you if you need to speak to them. They have been very supportive in a very upsetting time. As have all the other staff that I have encountered there. I have found the carers and kitchen staff very good at engaging with my aunt and updating me on behavioural changes. The food is excellent and the staff are happy to try different foods to encourage residents to eat. They are very welcoming and don't just provide the essential daily care but they have an Activities Co-ordonator who engages holistically with the residents and have communal sing alongs, arts and crafts and a variety of puzzles. The importance of the nursing team can't be understated. They have been very supportive and provides good clinical insight balanced with experience, pragmatism and empathy. Bonaer also has good staff retention (most staff have worked there for a few years) which inspires confidence on good management and continuity of care for the residents. It feels like a family. And in the final days, that's what most of us want nearby..family.
