My mother was a resident of amarna house care home for the last 12 weeks of her life . She was looked after with respect and love . By then she was eating virtually nothing but the staff would sit with her and encourage her to have something .
She was not left on her own in her lovely room which we had decorated with familiar pictures and ornaments unless she wanted to be there .
She was always clean and in nice clothes , the staff loved dressing her and putting a necklace on if she wanted , she was also able to have her hair done every week by the lovely hairdresser who visited the home .
The food they made looked very nice for the residents who could enjoy it , I sampled some !
The 12 weeks my mother was looked after by amarna were the most restful weeks I had known in the last 18 months of her life because I knew she was safe and that is what we all want for our elderly parents .
My mother was 88 when she passed away , my brother and I sat with her for the last 30 hours in her room , the staff nursed her and just kept her comfortable , the staff also fed us , hugged us and genuinely cried with us when she died .
I only wish I had been able to encourage her to go their sooner but she was a very stubborn lady .
If you are able to get a place in Amarna for your loved one grab it with both hands , visiting is pretty much anytime and the staff will make you feel relaxed and important , because it is worrying leaving family members in homes , you hear such horror stories .
My mother passed away in May and I still pop in now and again to say hello to the staff and I recently took some Christmas cheer in .
Hope this makes your decision easier . |

My father entered this Home 5 weeks ago and has settled very well. The home is run by
very friendly, caring and attentive staff. The whole place has an ambiance of home nothing is too much trouble. Each area has at least one SRN on duty and lots of care staff. The activities workers are second to none providing a varied programme. Residents are encouraged to join in but do not have to.. We are so pleased with this home we are in the process of getting a place for another family member |
