Hawthornden Surgery

Initial phone consultation was cut short due to something happening in the surgery. Waited over 20 mins at my appointment. Subsequent blood test was moved to 2 different surgeries on the day waited over 30 mins to be seen despite arriving early. Follow up call between 8-13 never happened, when I called I was told there were no slots available until the end of January, no explaination as to why the GP failed to contact me as planned. Appalling patient care/service.

I have been registered at this surgery for 42 years and up until the merge circa July 2018 the surgery was generally excellent. My nominated family doctor was usually available within 3 to 5 days and same day if the situation was deemed urgent. Access by phone was quick and most of the reception staff were reasonable and understanding. Since the merger the reverse is true i.e. long waits to get through on the phone , up to 5 weeks to get an appointment and from a Nominated doctor to any one of the part time doctors on the register. I`m afraid no one seems to care! We were promised that things would get back to normal once the merger had been completed , over one year on and if anything it is worse.The people deserve better as does the N.H.S as this surgery is a betrayal of all that the N.H.S stands for.
