Babylon has had a lot of criticism about cherrypicking pts and in response set up a dedicated care coordination team. Who so far in my mother's care have been outstanding in trying to communicate and respond with video calls and telephone calls and apparently emails. She has severe MH and disability problems and believe me when we state that the family GP practice of 40 years could not support her needs at all. This is so common in MH where pts die 20 yrs younger . Not being able to access an incredibly overworked traditional practice is a very very real problem. There is no space for flexibility. My mum has had more appointments and screening offered and taken up in 4 months then she has had in 15 years. The flexibility of video appts ( which she has to be supported for) and face to face within really short time frames is , frankly, excellent. She doesn't want to go to the GP. Maybe at some point in the future if she becomes a heavier user it will become more problematic. But for now it mostly works. However. And it is a big however. The internal communication between teams within Babylon is poor. Probably no poorer than a trad GP but given its a digital base needs to be so much better. The repeat prescription team are woeful in getting correct, timely and regular prescription to the chemist. They dont act on the emails updating or the information on the app. They stopped our mum's medication without notice or reason causing quite a lot of problems. Given the chemist can't apparently order from Babylon like they can trad GPs when Babylon get it wrong there is no safety net. We would like to know why that facility is not in place. The support team are also very varied in approach and more than once GPs have said they don't have access to emails. Email is one of the chosen communication routes Babylon asks for. So why don't they? GPs have also tried telephoning when a video call is arranged citing they have no personal internet access. Our mum can't use the phone for reasons of disability. We would like to know where someone's communication needs are recorded. All said though, and given she is described as complex and has had a difficult relationship with NHS, this has worked so much better than the ( very good) previous GP who just could not cope and who didn't have a care coordination team in place. Just needs better internal communication and time will tell if this is sustainable.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review, we really appreciate your feedback. We believe everyone deserves top-quality digital healthcare, even those with more complex health needs - which is why we have the Care Coordination team! We’re beyond happy to hear that the Care Coordination team is helping your mum get the care she needs. However, we’re worried about the concerns you’ve raised with our internal communications and repeat prescriptions. Ordering repeat prescriptions can be done in-app and should generally be a smooth process. It’s concerning to hear your repeat prescription was cancelled without notice. We’re very sorry and we’d like to look into this further. We have processes in place to ensure prescriptions are issued safely and appropriately. We are able to accept prescription requests from pharmacies where patients specify they are having difficulties. To organise this, please send the Pharmacy team an email at repeats.gpathand@nhs.net. With regards to your issues with our internal communications, we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and would really like to get a better understanding of the problem so we can improve. Are you able to take these concerns up directly with your Care Coordinator who can work with the Support team to iron these issues out and ensure everything is working smoothly.

What a difference! The complete opposite of my utterly dreadful previous GP. Quick, easy to book, telephone or video appointments. Such a Godsend when you're not feeling well or find it difficult to physically get to the GP(whether through health or work commitments). GPs who actually listen to the patient, read your notes properly. Friendly, polite, and professional support who resolve any problems or queries as quickly as possible. A breath of fresh air after experiencing the most unprofessional deeply rude and unpleasant reception staff at my former NHS practice. Yes, you migjt have to wait a week or two for face to face but I had waits of four weeks or longer at my old surgery. With GP at hand you can message or speak to a GP in the meantime. I just wish I'd changed to GP at Hand sooner.

I have used Babylon GP at hand for about half a year now after changing from an ATROCIOUS GP and I am very happy with the service so far. I was registered the same day I applied. Phonecall appointments are usually on time, the longest I had to wait was 10-15 minutes. Last time I called reception I was able to select an option for them to call me back when someone is free. When I was there for an examination and blood test the waiting time was normal, I've not been to a doctor yet that has seen me right on time for my appointment so I won't judge a single Gp for doing exactly what other GP's do, I assume it's normal anywhere you go. I was also offered 2 appointments, for a blood test and one for a consultation on the same day around the same time so thanks to them I have managed to do 2 things at the same time. Oh and I consult a doctor way more often than I usually do just because I can sort it all out at home when I'm free instead of having to go see one for an appointment every time. I also requested a sick note which was sent to me within 3 working days without me having to get out of my house so I am honestly very pleased. Reading the negative reviews I wonder if I have just been lucky so far or if some people have high expectations. The only thing I would suggest is to include an option for a male or female doctor as personally, as a woman, I would prefer to talk to a female doctor about certain issues.
