I have had excellent care from the Doctors, nurse and health care assistant at Wellesley Road Surgery. I have used the pre bookable appointments to see a GP of my choice as well as the walk in service when I had to see someone that day. The receptionists have always been helpful & deserve medals for having to deal with some awfully rude behaviour from other patients. Some of the other reviewers clearly have completely unrealistic expectations. |

The NHS system in general is slow, out of date and lacks care and responsibility for patients. We have lived in 4 countries and by far the UK NHS is the worst we have ever had to deal with any where. The computer and software technology should be up to date with modern requirements as it appears when you move surgeries, the system is not up to date!!Also, why isn't the NHS system integrated with private practice? In other countries this works far better and the public have more options with the selection of GPs, faster processing of patients and referrals, 24 hour and longer opening hours for practices and generally a more streamlined system. Our local surgery at Wellesley Road is the most frustrating surgery I have ever attended. On one occasion I went to consult a GP for a suspected Hernia (I have has one previously so I know the symptoms), the GP stated that she believed I don not have a Hernia and made me feel like I was making it up! I went to a Hernia specialist and as it turned out I not only had a Hernia but it was a strangulated Hernia! Another time I attended the surgery to obtain a referral for an Orthopaedic specialist. It took 1 week to obtain an appointment and then I was only with the GP for 5 minutes! She did not write a referral then and there, although she had plenty of time and there was no-one in the waiting room after my appointment. One week later I still do not have my referral even though I have followed up the surgery twice! The surgery is unable to give me a date when the referral will be available!! |

The receptionists and nurses are lovely. The doctors not so.. They are very dismissive and not helpful at all. I rarely go to the GP probably twice now in the last 10 years. The doctors make you feel like you are wasting their time and are asking too much when a simple routine check to ensure all is still well and to ease my concerns is needed. I pay my taxes so feel that I should have a right for a routine MTO every now and then! The doctors have no people skills and are very dismissive. They don't want to elaborate or hear you out. |
