I’m sorry to see there are no up to date reviews but I could be looking in the wrong place. The service I am receiving from my go practice is excellent, I can access a phone call from my doctor by ringing in the morning and from there I have had appointments booked within a matter of days. As I am on a transplant list they make room for me to have regular blood tests, even when I have missed the appointment through my fault they still fit me in. I have found that nothing is too much trouble and am really grateful for them. |

Hove Medical Centre has been my GP practice since 2011 and I have always had a satisfactory service. In the last few years, since the modernisation, I have noticed a significant improvement in the service at every level - from reception to medical staff. I am particularly impressed with the speed of being able to make an appointment on the day with a doctor. |

I would not recommend this surgery to anyone. I have had nothing but problems. If you don't have anxiety or health problems, then this place will give you some... not to mention increase your stress levels. I am finding it incredibly difficult to deal with this surgery in any way. It is very hard to get through on the phones and sometimes the phone will not even ring to allow you to get put on hold, it will just go to a 'busy' dial tone. Long waits when you do get put on hold to then get put through to rude and unhelpful receptionist who speak to you as if you are a problem. They offer no solution to any difficulties, such as something basic like coming in to to get online details to actually be able to make an apportionment. They do not want to help you. It is their way or no way at all. I fully understand why people do not go to their doctors anymore. 'Like it lump it' attitude. Doctors are rushed and do not give you a chance to even tell them what is wrong or why you are there, very dismissive. I was seen by several different GPs last year with a medical problem which was totally dismissed by everyone I was seen by. The only help I got was when I took myself to an out of hours GP at a DIFFERENT surgery, where they suggested my GP refers me to a specialist. I called the next morning and asked for an appointment so my GP could refer me. I got called back at 5.30pm and told to come in to see the GP, i managed to get there just before closing and the GP tried to call the specialist I needed, however of course no-one was there to pick up the phone because it was almost 6pm. The only way I got my problem resolved was to take myself to A&E where I finally got the help I needed. I'm so glad that I did as I ended up needed a five and a half hour surgery after it was discovered I had a rare condition with eroded bone and exposed nerves that needed urgent attention which was overlooked by every GP I saw. It's a shame that I have to share this experience and even more of a shame that nothing will be done to help the situation for people experiencing the same difficulties. Reply from Hove Medical Centre Tue, 30 Jul 2019 10:26:24 +0100 Thank you for your feedback. I’m a little confused why this was posted 11 months after your visit. As you can appreciate GP surgeries are very busy and at certain times it can be very difficult to get through on the phone. Mornings at 08.30 and afternoons at 14.00 are our busiest times; in particular, please avoid Monday mornings and the day after a Bank Holiday. In regard to the receptionist being rude, please give me dates and times so that I may listen to the phone calls. This is something I feel the practice has improved on over the last 2-3 years and I want to address any occasions when this slips. You mentioned having a rare condition; please note that GPs have to have a vast knowledge covering all types of conditions and ailments, which is why they refer patients to specialists in particular areas of the human body. Thank you, Business Practice Manager |
