The last few times I have phoned the surgery it has taken approximately 45 minutes to get thru. Yesterday, however, I was on hold almost 2 hours before being cut off. They don't seem to do face to face appointments any more, only phone calls if you fortunate enough to obtain an appointment. The doctors that phone do not work for the surgery, so have no knowledge of you and are totally impersonal. Have been with this surgery for many years. Very disappointed. I understand all surgeries have had problems since lockdown, but the service here is ridiculous. |

My GP is very understanding and is always happy to listen to everything I want to say. I am treated with respect and dignity and feel comfortable asking any questions. He knows what he's doing and I feel I can trust his advice and decisions on medication.
Unfortunately this is where the goodness ends. You can't make an appointment for more than one week in advance. My GP told me to come back in 2 weeks for a review and I was unable to book this appointment while I was leaving due to this rule. It has now been over a week, I couldn't get through to anybody yesterday on the phone and today the receptionist said the only appointment for the rest of the week is tomorrow at a time where I'll be at work (this is too short notice to book the time off with my boss). There is no provision for those who work 9-5 (as stated in other reviews) and I'll run out of the medication I'm prescribed on Friday with no way to get it (I can't have a review so I don't know whether I'll need to continue this medication or take something else instead).
If a doctor tells you they want you to come back and see them in 2 weeks common sense should dictate this should override not being able to make an appointment more than one week in advance, like if you're making an initial appointment for a health issue. I shouldn't have to write this review when in reality this could and should have been sorted the minute I walked out of my initial appointment. I understand GP services are stretched but leaving patients without reviews and medication at times where they are unwell and awaiting an anticipated review is simply not good enough and cannot be justified. Reply from School House Surgery Wed, 20 Jun 2018 09:38:49 +0100 Dear Patient, Thank you for your time in providing the practice with feedback and we are pleased that you feel your GP is happy to listen and we are delivering care with dignity and respect. With regard to the follow up appointments I’m somewhat confused as our access is extremely good compared to many other surgeries in the city and this is due to the fact that our policy works with booking one week ahead only. On reviewing our appointment system before we opened this morning we have availability for Thursday (tomorrow) & Friday this week & every day next week. Please accept my apologies as this would appear to be an error by the practice. We would certainly never leave a patient without medication and I would appreciate if you would contact me at School House Surgery to rectify this. Yours sincerely, Mrs C Marks Practice Manager |

I recently had to transfer from School House Surgery as I had moved out of the area. Have been a patient at the surgery, in its various locations, for 47 years and have always been very satisfied with the attention I have received from all of the health professionals at the practice. Reception staff are always polite and understanding and the medical team are attentive, understanding and efficient. When referrals have been necessary, these have been arranged quickly, test results promptly dealt with and any medication has been prescribed and an explanation given of the treatment effects. I have no hesitation in recommending this practice, and am sorry to have to leave but am now living outside of their area.. Reply from School House Surgery Fri, 22 Dec 2017 10:21:44 Z Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. It’s important to the practice and our staff to receive feedback which obviously I will share with the team. The practice takes pleasure in knowing that we have been polite, attentive and understanding to meeting your needs. I’m sorry that you are now out of the area but we wish you well in the future. Many thanks Yours sincerely, Mrs C Marks Practice Manager |
