It makes me sad that some people have posted very negative and even rude things about this practice. I have been with them since they opened in 1995 and have personal experience of all the doctors who have worked here, including some now retired. I would rate all the doctors and nurses as either good or very good. One or two have been the best GPs I have had in my life (and I am in my 60s). Every single one is caring and dedicated, and all are professional and competent in pursuing evidence-based medicine. They all work extremely hard under very difficult circumstances, including being underfunded by the local authority (I know for a fact that this has constrained their ability to recruit extra GPs for their high caseload). Instead of making disparaging and even rude and disrespectful remarks it would be better to show them some gratitude and be active in supporting the practice in a positive way. Nothing is perfect, and there will always be problems and limitations, and even occasional errors. Some failures in service or treatment are inevitable, statistically. Medicine is not an exact science, but always involves making judgements and decisions from within a situation of uncertainty. In the NHS as a whole there are some 'bad apples' who should not be practising, but there are none of those at the Fairfield Centre. Also, in recent years the ability to book an appointment is nothing like as good as it used to be years ago. But then why not campaign and press for local authority funding to pay for extra GPs rather than just blaming the staff? I'll bet the staff don't like those appointment constraints any more than the patients. To those ungrateful and disrespectful people who run down this practice I would like to say the following: (1) You seem to be speaking from an assumption of entitlement. But nobody is entitled to anything. That you have any NHS provision at all is only because of the political will that set it up (in 1948), and because of the people who work in it who are willing to dedicate their lives to caring for others; (2) What have you done to help others in your life? Do you dedicate your life to healing the sick? Or do you live a life devoted only to gain for your personal yourself? Before you criticise these Fairfield doctors and nurses make sure you dedicate your life for the health, welfare or public good of other people, as they do. The latter points do not rule out making criticisms where they are valid (and I have). But please make them constructive, and in the spirit of trying to support the Fairfield team. In that way the doctors and nurses and other staff will feel supported and encouraged to achieve even higher standards of excellence, rather than being made to feel de-spirited and failures, which they most certainly are NOT. Remember that the staff are human, with feelings, and that they are doing the best under very difficult circumstances in a profession that is a noble one - to help the sick when they are at their most vulnerable. That they have devoted their lives to that end places them in a higher category of human beings than most of the rest of us.

My family and I have been patients of the Fairfield Practice for over 10 years, and have had excellent care in many different situations, both medical and practical. It is, like many London practices, oversubscribed and the GP’s work long hours in order to give each patient a personal and focused consultation. I could not recommend the practice highly enough; the reception staff are always helpful and friendly, often under very pressured circumstances and the practice nurses are knowledgeable and just great! Overall, a wonderful surgery.

The support of the doctor has been excellent. I was impressed by their thorough assessment and they went above and beyond to help me get the treatment I need. The doctor was reassuring, always checked for my consent and they has offered plenty of follow-up. Considering how stretched the national health service at the moment, I was especially grateful for their support. The receptionists have been helpful. I definitely recommend this practice.
