I am sorry you are disappointed that you do not qualify this year for the standard NHS flu vaccination programme . The eligibility criteria is not decided by us and changes every year. Although you have a past history of Crohns disease, you are not currently on any immunosuppressing medication, and your white cells have been normal ( your immune cells). So you do not qualify for the NHS scheme this year. Once we have vaccinated all over 65s and those with medical conditions that make them eligible for the standard NHS scheme, we will be rolling out the flu vaccination programme with any remaining vaccine supplies, to the 50-65 year olds as per the government's new Covid plans. However with limited supplies of vaccine, this is not possible at present. I am not sure if any of the local pharmacies are able to give over 50s a free flu jab if they have spare capacity and that may well be worth a try. If you are not able to source a vaccine in the next couple of months, please contact us again in December, when the plans for the over 50s should be clearer Kind regards Dr Alison Anderson

The last time I can into the surgery I was given a prescription in which the Dr said could be repeated up until December. Great as also I was told I could request via the Patient Access App...even better. However, not the case at all. Tried the app and nothing on there so called the surgery only to be told rudely that I would have to come in personally to request for the first repeat. Understandable I thought. So I popped in to request a repeat within 72hrs. After the allotted time nothing in the pharmacy for me to collect. So I called the surgery and again was informed rudely that it had not been authorised and if I wanted another prescription I would have to come into the surgery and see a doctor. So let’s recap, I was told by the dr it was on repeat and I could request on my app (which would save time for all) this wasn’t the case. So wasted time calling up and subsequently in person requesting it. Then to waste more GP time (which could be spent with someone needing to be seen more urgently than myself) just to get another repeat which I was told in the first place I had. This has wasted my time, receptionist time and a GPs time, which could have easily been done on the app. After all this is what these things are for to assist in patient access for certain population groups. However this isn’t the first time the system has failed. Can’t wait until CQC visit i’d love to leave a couple of comment cards to enlighten them.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention as we welcome patients' feedback in order to improve the service and care we provide to our patients. We can only apologise for the difficulties you have had requesting repeat medication and would always encourage patients to raise specific concerns with our Practice Management Team. Please contact our Reception Manager either by telephone or via our practice website in order that we can fully investigate and ensure your records are appropriately amended for use with the Patient Access App.
