Unfortunately in 2020 was diagnosed with cancer. Absolutely poor service from HC and Admin staff. Constantly traveling to Winchester for blood tests whilst having chemo etc. Was contacted once, ‘we are following your treatment in the background’ and since, zero. Hopefully my treatment completely finishes March 2023 and do not hold up much hope of contact with GP. | ||||||

I arrived today for an appointment with the midwife. When I arrived the receptionist explained that the clinic had been cancelled the previous day. Sadly no one had contacted me to explain. My husband and I had both taken time off work. When my husband spoke to the practice manager she explained that the surgery does not have control over the midwifes.
What a shame that no one was prepared to explain or admit that we should have been contacted.
This is not the first bad admin I have experienced at this surgery. Reply from Old Basing Health Centre Fri, 07 Dec 2018 10:38:46 Z Following your visit to the surgery and our subsequent telephone conversation I have been in contact with the midwife who has assured me that she had contacted you and left a voice mail to say that your appointment was cancelled. I have asked her to contact you to apologise that the message was not received and that you were inconvenienced. The admin staff in Old Basing do not undertake admin work on behalf of the midwife service which is based at Basingstoke hospital. We offer a room once a week for the convenience of our patients to avoid a trip to the hospital itself. Like you I am disappointed that your appointment was cancelled and the message was not received advising you. If there are other aspects of the administration of the surgery that you are unhappy with I would be happy to listen to them. I have tried to call you this morning but have had to leave a voicemail which I hope you receive I look forward to hearing from you | ||||||

Yesterday I had a telephone appointment booked for 10am. This was a standard follow up appointment for some blood test results. I was telephoned by the doctor at 12.30. This was 2.5 hours after the appointment. My office has poor phone reception so the call was cut off. Where this has previously happened the doctor has tried to call back so I moved to a location with better reception. The doctor did not call back. I followed up at 2.30 and was advised that the doctor hadn’t planned to call again but the receptionist would ask the doctor to call. I did not receive a call back. WhIlst I appreciate that the appointment time is a guide and there is a need for flexibility. There also needs to be some appreciation that patients opt for a standard telephone appointment to avoid coming to the surgery and to make things more efficient whilst managing work commitments. It seems that in order to be able to be available for the telephone appointment the patient needs to be free all day to wait for the call. I will be rescheduling with a face to face appointment. It seems that the doctors need to be given more time to complete schedules phone appointment rather than fitting them around face to face appointments. Very disappointing service. | ||||||
