It feels like they are actively trying to dissuade people from seeing a doctor. I understand that they are a limited resource but if I have got desperate enough to decide that I need to see a doctor then these barriers are stressful and make me feel like I am doing something wrong asking to see a doctor.
Once you get past the recorded message and then the queue, and actually speak to a receptionist, you find that the time before you can get a non urgent appointment is weeks. This may be appropriate for someone who sees a doctor for every little thing. But if you are a responsible person who waits to see if the issue goes away and only calls for an appointment when it hasn't and you are sure you have an issue that you need to discuss with a doctor, then again you feel like you are being punished.
Sorry but the surgery now feels like a cross between a beaurocratic public service and a money making business that is not interested in resourcing to be able to provide a basic level of service. Reply from Lychpit Surgery Mon, 11 Dec 2017 12:25:59 Z Thank you for making us aware of your concerns. Unfortunately you've posted your comments anonymously so we can't contact you. However, you should have been offered a telephone call with one of our triage doctors if the wait for an appointment was too long for you. Please do call back and ask our Reception team to put you on the Rapid list. It would also help if you could ask them to pass your phone number onto the Practice Management team. We can then listen to your call & identify any training needs as a result. |

I have recently moved from another surgery where I had been for over 15 years. However, in the last 3-4 years, I was unlikely to get an appointment with my named doctor within a three week period; and the doctors that were available tended to give conflicting information and made inappropriate assumptions about my health, which they refused to discuss. As such, I voted with my feet and left.
A friend recommended me to this surgery; and, so far after 1year , I am very happy with the service provided by the doctors, nurses and the reception staff in the Lychpit surgery and those at Crown Heights, when I have had occasion to use the town centre facilities.
I feel I am being treated as an individual and I am confident the advice given is geared to my particular circumstances. It is very much appreciated when patients take the time to let us know when things have gone right & I will ensure your comments are shared with the whole team. |

On the few occasions my wife or I have needed to get an appt I've always managed to get one. Crown Heights for emergencies and Lychpit for everything else. I had to wait one day for an emergency appt before Christmas due to a mini flu epidemic but staff were very apologetic and I got an appt the next day. I'm only leaving this as the existing reviews are certainly not my experience. |
