Witnessed the phlebotmist shout at patients in the corridor. Took 6 phone calls and an email consult to get a sick note in a week. Absolutely no consideration that if the sick note is expired and you are trying to recover you so called caring GP which at this point is not very caring makes it impossible for patients to get sick notes not thinking about the repercussions and extra stress it causes to the patient on top of them trying to rest and recover. I have found some GP's dismissive when you see them. |

I really don't like to complain, particularly since things must be just as incredibly stressful on the staff side of things too, as well as the patient. I can well understand and fully sympathise that there must be some stressful and angry phone-callers to deal with - more than usual - from patients worried about their health and not being able to get appointments quickly. But the fact remains that one can no longer easily see the GP one was used to seeing prior to Covid. There are some GPs one gels with, others one doesn't, which is natural. But now it's become a triage lottery. After finding a GP that I found absolutely outstanding a few years back (particularly in regards to the non-standard illness I have - ME/CFS), not being able to make an appointment easily either online or over the phone now, as in the pre-Covid days, to see her in particular is very annoying. I wonder what elderly patients must do who are not computer or mobile phone users? It must be near impossible for them to make appointments. I tried earlier today, and was told there were 30+ other callers. 20 minutes later it was down to 12, and it stayed that way for another 15 minutes, at which time I gave up. It was similar attempting this again two more times later. I understand there are staff shortages, but surely there must be some way to make the system work better than it is currently for everyone? Health care and being able to see a GP shouldn't be turned into a 'first come first served' kind of lottery. And one should be able to have the option to see the GP that one wishes to see (for whatever reasons). Thank you for your time. |
