We met the doctor for the first time this morning for an appointment with my 9yr old son. The doctor was amazing, so thorough & gave us so much time. He didn’t make me feel like I was wasting his time or try & rush us out. He listened to everything & didn’t dismiss anything, reassuring me & my son throughout the consultation. I absolutely think he’s amazing! |

The thought of making a telephone call to The Doctors' House in Marlow always fills me full of trepidation, these days; although it was not always so. After the usual protracted wait, the reception is invariably frosty and almost immediately adversarial. I do appreciate that the enormous pressure being exerted on primary care, means that triage is essential. However, in general, I believe that patients should be treated with respect and understanding. Above all, I would expect a GP-based telephone interlocutor to approach an enquiry with a genuinely helpful and accommodating attitude. At The Doctors' House, with the occasional notable exception, this is certainly not the case. The reception is often brusque, intolerant and adversarial. In my opinion the practice needs to consider, as a matter of urgency, to implementing a comprehensive, receptionist training programme. Above all, this should be predicated on the notion of being approachable, understanding, and genuinely happy to help.
To be reminded of the almost unbearable workload that is being imposed on General Practice, is not a problem. The public should be fully aware that they should use their judgement - when it comes to making a GP appointment; and it should ONLY be once they have exhausted all other possibilities - such as NHS 111 and their local pharmacy, for example. However, if General Practice would like to engender a more responsible attitude from their patients, they should really try to behave in a kinder and much less adversarial or seemingly hostile manner. |

Doctor Johnson is excellent. Explains things well and makes things happen. Couldn’t recommend more highly. |
