My new GP is excellent but I wish I could say the same for the receptionists. I have had them answer the phone only to have them instantly hang up. 3 times! Then on another occasion they wouldn’t even entertain my request to speak to either a GP or a nurse about a medical concern I was in pain with. After asking me to hold on, a couple of minutes later the receptionist came back sniggering (obviously finding the whole thing hilarious) & told me that I should get something from the pharmacy. I asked if the HP or nurse had suggested this & the reply was “No. I discussed it with my colleague next to me & this is what we think you should do!” Totally unprofessional! | ||||||

I wish I found this NHS site prior to signing up with Pheonix Surgery in Tetbury as the previous reviews have much negativity about the practice. Perhaps, I was slightly spoiled with my previous surgery who were very efficient and accommodating with patients who have complex medical conditions.
I recently joined the Pheonix group and was informed by the receptionist that it would not be necessary to see a doctor as a new patient. I found this very strange and questioned the decision, I asked how I could obtain repeat medication and how the doctor would understand my condition without such an appointment? I was informed this could be done on line once my medical records had been transferred.
I tried repeatedly to sign onto the web site via the internet and to my amazement it just kept on sending me around in circles. After many frustrating days of trying to gain access to my account, I was informed of a further step that needed input from a third application and assistance for that could only be provided by the technical support operative who worked on Wednesday and Friday mornings. I was eventually on line and surprisingly without any medical records or a repeat prescription option, when I enquired further I was informed the systems between my old practice and Pheonix were not compatible and my old records could not be transferred. I was now in complete limbo land where there were no doctor appointments, no prescriptions and the only opportunity to progress matters further was to go home and wait for a telephone call from my new GP. This was very difficult for me as I had to explain my case history over the telephone and why I need a variety of medication. The GP was good and understood my concerns and issued my prescriptions without me having to call into the practice again. After discussing my concerns about the difficulties I have eluded to earlier it was suggested there were "other surgeries around." I took this as the most important aspect of the doctor's conversation as my health is more important to me than dealing with a poor and inadequately trained practice. I hope the managers of this practice take on board the comments raised and treat them as a point of learning for the future. As for me, I listened carefully to the doctor and took that advice. I moved to another practice. | ||||||

I have been particularly impressed by the accessibility of this practice. Appointments are available whenever their is an urgent matter, the doctors are thorough, helpful and most importantly kind. They take the time needed to get the bottom of an issue and are very good at following up on tests and xrays.
