I have been a patient of this surgery all my life. In fact, one of its founding doctors, Dr Beer, delivered me. I am 56 years old and for most of that time I have had nothing but praise for this surgery. I have had a great doctor/patient relationship with some of the doctors there, including Dr Frank McCarthy, his son Dr. James McCarthy and Dr. Neil Wright - all of whom always knew my medical history and family/work circumstances without having to look it up. However, in the last 5 years or so (beginning before Covid) it has gone rapidly downhill. The doctors there are still very good, especially Dr Mary McCarthy and Dr Dai Evans, but it is easier to get an audience with the Queen than it is an appointment with any of the doctors, and the receptionists (or at least one in particular) can only be described as rude and abusive. It is such a shame that the doctors, who are still very good, are being let down by an appallingly bad appointment management system and at least one receptionist with a poor and unprofessional attitude. |

I want to leave a review for Dr Mary MacCarthy & Partners as I have recently been having to deal with other local doctors surgeries on behalf of both my father and brother. This (rather bad) experience has made me realise just how lucky I am to have been looked after at Mayfield Surgery for over 30 years. I have read a number of bad reviews concerning Mayfield Surgery and want to tell anyone complaining that you do not realise just how good this practise is. My experience over the years had been fantastic. The doctors are great (particularly Dr Mary) and the receptionists are helpful, professional and most of all, kind. Please people, be grateful for the service this surgery is providing for our community. The alternatives really are not good...believe me. |
