Unfortunately my experience with the surgery has changed a lot recently, I understand everywhere is extremely busy with covid and I am aware more than any of the demands put on staff as a result, but there is no excuse for staff being extremely rude on the phone, my elderly nan is a patient and I was with her when she phoned the surgery and was in complete shock at how the receptionist spoke to her, it wasn’t just what she said it was how she said it, she had an extremely harsh tone on the phone not what you’d expect at all from a doctors receptionist and she came across sarcastically with no understanding or compassion for my Nan. I wanted my nan to move surgeries I felt that offended if this wouldn’t be a big deal and upheaval for a woman of her age I would have insisted. I would suggest that receptionists are reminded no matter how busy they may be or how bad their day might have been, they are there to help everyone particularly the elderly and vulnerable and it’s not right of them to give them any less than their very best! |
