Unable to contact the surgery by phone because it's was continually engaged. (I've tried for over an hour on some occasions and when you do get through usually there are no appointments left and no pre-bookable appointments available). Today I visited the surgery to try and arrange an appointment for a couple of weeks ahead to be told they didn't know the dates for pre-bookable appointments. Totally unsympathetic attitude, no attempt to help, just told to try ringing on the day. (This was an appointment I was told to make if the medication did not work)

In the past I have had very positive experiences at other GP practices but Bowburn Medical Centre was such a contrast to these. I will avoid returning. There was no empathy when delivering difficult news to me and in my opinion unprofessional language was used when referring to potential surgery (e.g. sarcastic and joking language to describe a surgical procedure was unnecessary). I dreaded going back and was left in tears on more than one occasion due to the sarcastic language used by the GP during my appointment. I also requested to either lean back or lie down during a blood test. This was ignored, so I had to quickly be put on the floor after becoming dizzy and unwell, which felt like an undignified end to the procedure. Overall, better listening and more empathy is required. I sincerely hope some of the feedback is taken constructively to improve patient service in the future. |
