After 38 years with this practice, and even moving my wife and daughter to their patient lists we are all now leaving. It used to be a friendly and reliable service but in the last 18 months it's gone to the dogs. I have never experienced such a down turn in my life. This review isn't just because I have had one bad experience it's due to every experience myself, my wife, my daughter, my parents and my sister have had with the place for nearly two years. I dont know what else to do apart from move to another practice. The problems are: you can't get a pre booked appointment within 4 weeks. You cant see the same doctor. They are not friendly on the phone and have got to the stage where the staff just don't care anymore. Although most of the doctors are doing their best, one is useless and all of the patients you speak to about him/her avoid taking appointments with him/her. Overall it is such a shame that the practice has deteriorated like this. I can only assume they have taken on so many patients, probably for money that they can no longer cope. |

This is clearly a popular surgery with an older patient base. However, my 90 year old aunt has been a patient for nearly 50 years. Having now had to involve myself in her care, I’ve been appalled at how lacking everyone seems to be over her health and situation. She hasn’t seen a GP in over 18 months ( when it is obvious to anyone she is sliding into dementia very rapidly.)The staff she has seen don’t seem able to decipher what medication she should be on from the screen in front of them. I have a Power of Attorney registered with the surgery but am not contacted on the rare occasions they decide to check up on my aunt. When I have rung for explanations, no one seems able to tell me much and I am told her appointment will be with a ‘healthcare advisor’ rather than a doctor. While I understand the NHS is stretched and GP services especially so, I find it rather odd that this practice is advertising for new patients when they clearly can’t cope with the ones they’ve got. It’s especially worrying when you imagine the very elderly patients out there who simply don’t have a friend or family member to fight their corner. What happens to them? |
