Brilliant consolation with Dr Waggitt, who is caring and genuine. She listens, is not at all dismissive, and discusses the best plan.

I felt unwell on Sunday 12 May 2019 and telephoned NHS 111 for advice. A nurse rang me, followed by a doctor with guidance. My condition did not require hospital admission. At the end of the conversation, I said that I would telephone my medical practice the next working day. On Monday 13 May 2019 at 8.21 am, I telephoned my practice and a very helpful receptionist promised me a return call from a doctor. A doctor rang me at 8.42 am who arranged an appointment with their clinical pharmacist at 10.45 am. After an examination and discussion, I am pleased to say that I am back to normal. Thank you NHS 111 and to Marine Avenue Medical Centre, the latter for their patient-friendly prompt service.

I rarely need to visit the surgery, but in five years have, as far as I remember, I have only seen the doctor of my choice twice. I have spoken to several other patients from this practice, and found that almost all of them are seriously considering alternative surgeries. But where else can you go? A week before he died from cancer, my husband had an appointment, and had to climb the stairs to the consulting room, and descend. He, a grown, once strong man, was in tears. I understand that the NHS is at crisis point, but it doesn't make it any easier for the patients. I myself had an appointment some days ago - several problems, again, saw someone I had never seen before, who couldn't deal with the fact I had more than one ailment. One of which was sever depression and suicidal thoughts. "Sorry, only ten minutes, please make an appointment" Five weeks?! Let's hope I am still here. Though would anyone in the practice actually notice? I doubt it.
