I telephoned today to ask for a telephone consultation appointment to save taking up a go appointment. I phone early in the morning by 14:30 no one had rung me so I decided to call the surgery, I was told by the receptionist that the doctor had finished the appointment! When I asked why because they had not called me. He explained that he had not got the information why. I said but the gp has not called me don’t you think that’s bad practice? His response was I will see if there is anything written in the notes. He said the doctor had requested diagnostic tests when I explained these were not necessary he said he would find out if the gp could take a call from me. The gp did speak with me and said that she felt the tests she had requested were necessary I asked her to explain why they were? She advised and I advised her that those tests were not necessary due to no risk of any infections... the conversation was awkward and uncomfortable.. I felt the gp was not respecting my wishes after a long conversation to and through she snapped what do you want? How about listening skills, reading notes and speaking to your patient! That’s just a start. I will leave this now but I can say hand on heart I feel this was very poor practice and not gold standard. What has happened to the gp nurses and health care professionals that go above and beyond the call of duty or even those that care enough to listen to their patients because there was no sign of that person in the gp I spoke with. Regardless after today’s conversation I will be leaving this for now due to the conversation I have had today.. |

I have been registered with this centre for three and a half years since moving into the area. I am always impressed with the helpfulness of all the staff, who are friendly and professional. We hear so much about how awful the NHS is but this Centre is well-run and I feel safe in their care. |
