The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre is an excellent hospital. However, I would have to agree with "Anonymous" (visited in June 2014. Posted on 14 July 2014) that the parking is not goodand the severe lack of spaces brings out some of the worst in human behaviour. Even though I was already in a space and struggling to walk with my disability a vile woman spat and hit me in an unprovoked attack. She also hit my car so I drove out of the carpark in fear she may have damaged my car further whilst I was in the hospital. Of course this is compounded by the ridiculous Oxford council's street parking policy and practice. I am hoping this is just an isolated case and unusual for the people of Oxford. It is just a shame that one person should blight this fabulous hospital. The other issue is smoking. Despite the many signs around the hospital and grounds stating that smoking is not permitted in the building or grounds one can see many individuals flagrantly ignoring these notices by smoking in the grounds. What I object to is them smoking right by the front door and everyone having some of their smoke as one enters/exits the buiding. On occasion it blows into to foyer but there is never any security to stop it happening. Original Comment Report... Parking is a nightmare. I arrived at 1000 for a 1045 appt. I arrived 40 minutes early. I found a sopace and gave it to a woman who was having to send her child in alone confident I had time to find another space. Just circled and circled with many other drives trying to get in a space before anyone else did. My son with autism got more and more stressed. I never got another space!! In desperation and late for app't I parked with 2 other cars on a large kerb with a sign saying a ticket may be given. I have seen other cars parked on those kerbs may times. The fine is half my family weekly food bill, £40, is too much. I told the receptionist I had had to park on kerb. I was 15 minutes late for sons MRI. When we left the hospital at about 12 noon loads of spaces....... Original Comment Report... I returned home last night after a 4 night stay on Ward E following a knee replacement and I wanted to let you know how fantastically I was looked after. All the staff on the ward were kind, courteous and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. They answered and, if necessary, dealt with all my queries and concerns and at no time was I made to feel a nuisance. They all worked hard but always seemed to have time for a smile and a kind word. Although knee replacements are very routine at the NOC, it was a very big deal for me and I felt so well looked after. Another huge thank you, of course, has to go to the surgeon and his team. I arrived in outpatients on Friday morning for a routine check up and landed up in theatre at 4.00 the same day having surgery. To them, the staff in X-ray, the physios, the OT ladies, the porters and everyone I came into cotact with - a huge thank you. Original Comment Report... |
