Reply from East London NHS Foundation Trust Mon, 20 Aug 2018 14:41:02 +0100 This is concerning feedback. It sounds as being admitted to the unit was a very distressing experience when you were feeling extremely vulnerable. I am sorry that you did not feel you were supported on the ward by some of our staff. We would be keen to contact you directly to look into what happened here. Posts on NHS Choices are anonymised so we have no way of contacting you. So we would appreciate if you contacted our PALS/Complaints service on our freephone number: 0800 085 8354 to talk through what happened. Or via another channel: https://www.elft.nhs.uk/Contact-Us/Complaints-Comments-and-Suggestions We really appreciate you posting this feedback as we can only make improvements if we know what it has felt like to be on one of our wards. I hope you are now getting the support you need to recover and get back on track with your life. |

I have just been told some information from my dr I have found really concerning and insulting aswell from my dr upon trying to confirm this information before getting too anxious about it I go online to get a contact number which happens to be ge same one I’ve been phoning all to realise that there is no answer? I’ve rang 15 times and counting (no I’m not exaggerating I’m over frustrated with the lies and lack of support) I still can’t believe after even raising some of these Major crosseing of political borders there is still no real passion or progress in creating a soloution and supporting the vulrable?! I have nearly given up in trying honestly I can’t do another week of making calls sending letter or emails I’m literilly exhausted. Original Comment Report... I was sectioned under the Mental Health Act in 2016. I called 999 and a police car picked me up as the ambulance would have taken too long. Eventually, after waiting unsuccessfully for an ambulance, the police drove me to City and Hackney. The first thing that was said to me by their staff- in an incredibly accusatory tone- was "why did you call a police car instead of an ambulance?" For someone who was suicidal, it was a massive knock and I felt like I'd done the wrong thing getting help. I was interrogated for hours by two strangers about every aspect of my mental health. There was no warmth or understanding. The same person who asked me about the police car and the ambulance later told me I shouldn't call 999 again in future because it would "look bad when I apply for jobs." They said they would write a letter to me and my GP and that it would give me next steps. I was released. I never received a letter and there was no follow up. The minute I returned home, I was on my own. My time there was the first time I've ever felt ashamed of my mental health and I would consider it a traumatic experience. Original Comment Report...
