I was treated appallingly whilst I was in the care of mill view, staff wouldnt intervene when I was visibly self harming, would only be offered medication. In my second week at millview I was extremely poorly, vomiting all day and night, unable to shower or wash due to the pain I was in. I had an examination once every morning - to which they still had no idea what was wrong with me. It took them a week to finally admit me to hospital, which I was so poorly I ended up in a 6 week coma, tracheostomy and resulted in 3 major open surgeries - to which they found I had stage 3 bowel cancer. I had sepsis and ards on my lungs. I was in hospital for 3 months in the end. Had I have been seen sooner by professionals at the hospital the outcome couldve been better, my body was shutting down! I would never ever recommend going to Millview, the staff peeped their head round my door every so fl often throughout the day and night, no one sat with me, supported me, cared for me. I was completely alone and neglected. |

We have received supportive care for my brother during his long term mental ill health during his present episode. Resources have obviously been stretched during these covid times and we understand this. Staff are always polite and courteous and try to help him when he allows. Progress is slow due to the nature of his condition, but we still hope that he will recover despite all the complications we have all had to face. We have been involved as family and Carers since the outset and like to think we have formed a bond between staff and ourselves due to openness and honesty in our efforts to help my brother. Obviously there are ups and downs, times when frustrations and tiredness make things seem more difficult for us all but the staff can be depended upon for support and do their best. Long term illness can have a ripple effect on patients families which is when support is even more important. I would like to thank the staff for their efforts in this distressing time. Lets us hope inner strength will help us towards a positive outcome and good health once more. Omicron in the ward delays progress further and prevents us from visiting we continue to voluntarily follow good practices to protect patients, staff and other visitors and hope to see the ward open again soon. We support the staff in their efforts. |

My Mill view stays Reply from Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Tue, 09 Apr 2019 13:39:07 +0100 Thank you very much for taking the time to tell us about your admissions to Mill View. I have passed on your message to the team there and they, like me, were delighted to read how things have improved and how all the different teams at the hospital helped. it is brilliant that you are now using your experiences to help others! best wishes Rachael Kenny Participation team Sussex Partnership |
