Jan 31 2024 I stayed 9 days following a knee replacement (November 2023) and was deeply disappointed having had recommendations from several medics (who evidently had never been there).
The online presentation is misleading. Nothing is 'state of the art' nor 'a new concept in post-operative care' with the exception of the hydro pool. The rooms do not appear to be purpose built having wires around the beds and no central control of lighting; inadequate number of game-ready ice-machines so important for orthopaedic recovery.
No orthopaedic chairs with inbuilt leg rests. Apparently there are 2 chefs on site but the food is unappetising (tastes pre-packaged) and between them with due notice they could not prepare a freshly-squeezed orange juice (I was offered Waitrose 'fresh juice with or without bits'. All at 5 star prices of £420 per day with physio extra. Staff kind.The Clavadel

Oct 15 2018 I stayed here for two weeks in July. Following a less=than-ideal stay at the hospital which knocked my confidence, the Clavadel put me back together mentally and physically. Lovely private room with air-con which was much needed in a record-breaking July for temperatures. Really good food and a social, convivial atmosphere which made one feel "normal" and definitely helped recovery. It was lovely be able to have a drink before dinner. Other guests were really helpful and kind too. Staff from reception, the carers to the nurses and physiotherapists were exceptional. One really felt that the staff genuinely cared about the patients. The physio helped me tremendously and, most of the time, I was under the care of one person and the consistency there helped. Parking for visitors was easy and visitors were made very welcome. Also plenty of room for these visits and it was lovely to use the outside terrace on the second floor to meet visitors. My guests were really impressed with the facilities and atmosphere and said "trust you to find a 5 star hotel"! i have been going back for continuing physio and am always made to feel very welcome. I would have no hesitation recommending this to friends and family.

I cannot praise it enough; excellent care and physiotherapy. I left with much improved mobility and confidence. Thank you to the whole team at tbe Clavadel.
