Frail husband was admitted with UTI. Told to treat this as a home from home. Newly decorated room and no smell or urine. Husband bed bound, bed bathed two daily, fed regularly and after a few days spoon fed. Seamless service between nursing and caring. Very happy and relaxed, friendly atmosphere throughout building. Home manager operates an open door policy and open visiting. Total stay of ten days. End of life care exemplary, husband was kept comfortable, pain free and peaceful with 10 minute checks to the end. Wife was comforted. |

My family and I will be forever in debt to the kindness , humour and diligence of the staff at Acacia Lodge towards my mother Alice Bird .
My mother , who has died peacefully on the 22 October, had been there since March 2010. Throughout that difficult time many of the staff became real friends ,caring for her with great patience and affection, and welcoming the family at any time .
Acacia is run seemlessly, and you are always cheerfully greeted and helped by staff.
For us, the Bird family, particular thanks goes to one carer, who formed a special bond with my mother , and was so kind to us all , way above and beyond any call of duty .

Totally disagree with the other reviewer. My mum is here and has been for well over a year and is treated with real care and affection by staff who tend to her individual needs very well. The home has a warm and even 'fun' atmosphere (not something I would say about most care homes). I feel that they prioritise what is important, focusing on ensuring safety, creating a warm, homely environment and giving their residents the best quality of life that they can have. |
