Dewdown House is a Christian establishment which is owned by The Salvation Army. It is able to provide personal care and accommodation for up to 40 older people.

Dewdown aims to preserve, as far as possible, each resident's personal independence, interests and pattern of life.

It is a purpose built home providing accommodation for older people. It was opened in 1981 and replaced an older home on the same site. In March 2013 it was voted Best Home of the Year by an independent panel for The Salvation Army Social Services. The home is situated on the sea front and has some commanding views over the Severn Estuary to South Wales.

Situated about 1 mile from the town centre, during the summer months there is a land train that operates along the promenade to the pier. From there all amenities are just a short walk away. We have a hairdresser that visits the home twice a week and our enclosed patio that provides a haven even on the chilliest days.

Dewdown House is a Christian establishment in which daily prayers and a Sunday service are held. A visiting Anglican rector celebrates Holy Communion once a month and arrangements can be made for those of other denominations.

    Dewdown House
    Review SourceBy:Lise Woollacott

    Mar 14 2017

Five years ago my mother-in-law, Joyce Woollacott, was descending into Altzheimer's and dementia. We needed to find a care home, and were lucky enough that someone recommended Dewdown House. During the approximately 2 years that Joyce was a resident, she received unflinching quality care and support. I cannot express our qratitude and relief that we knew that Joyce was receiving the best care possible. She died, sadly, on Christmas morninbg 2013. For Christmas 2016, we were expecting my father-in-law, Chris Woollacott, to spend some time with us, but just 10 days before Christmas he announced that he felt that he could no longer cope on his own, and that he had decided that he wanted to be cared for at Dewdown House. It is surely a testament to our faith in Dewdown House that Chris decided on his own that he wanted to be cared for at the same place, where he knew that had looked after Joyce to well. Amazingly, Dewdown House had a room for him, and he spent the last few weeks of his life receiving the care that he felt he needed, and the family were relieved of the worry of what might be. Sadly, Chris only spent less than two months in Dewdown House, but there were as happy as they could be and he felt safe and supported. All staff - with whom I have been in contact - have been incredibly supportive, caring and professional. I cannot recommend Dewdown House enough for professionalism, discretion and care. Thank you to all staff from myself, my husband, Richard, brother-in-law, Peter for all your help. Lise Woollacott
