I cannot recommend this care home highly enough. My mother was a resident, in the non-dementia side, for 2 years. The carers are all extremely dedicated, patient and caring; nothing is too much trouble for them, even when they are overworked. They treat residents as if they are members of their own families, providing for their individual needs and co-operating fully with relatives (holding regular meetings for them but also dealing with queries as and when they arise). Some even bought my mum items out of their own pocket that they had seen and knew would help her (eg ear muffs/rug for her knees). Activities and days out are organised regularly, although my mum was only able to participate to a limited degree. There is no 'care home' smell there and the atmosphere is always friendly.
When mum was dying, I was extremely moved by the consideration and thoughtfulness shown by all the staff on duty; and six of them attended the funeral/wake, which meant a lot. |
