Our father, who was fiercely independent and refused to ever consider a nursing home, was convince to "just try out" St George's Nursing Home when it became painfully obvious that he could no longer cope at home with "carers" (don't get me started!).
He was admitted in early December 2014 and despite all his frailties, was convinced and actively encouraged to start eating again. Even though the outcome was always inevitable, I got so much comfort from the fact that he was eating and drinking regularly, had constant staff interactions and was always comfortable, pain free and really liked the staff.
I cannot recommend this home highly enough, it really was a "home" for him, nothing was ever too much trouble and the staff at all levels could tell me how his day had been or what he had been doing, they are totally into their residents, and it was lovely to see.
We did look at other more nationally known homes but from the start felt that this was the right place for Dad and so it transpired. Be in no doubt, this is the finest Nursing Home I have ever seen, and we have seen quite a few! |

My wife arrived at St. George's recently and, so far, I am impressed with the standard of care being provided.
I was given the opportunity to view St. George's beforehand but the trouble with that is, what do you compare it to? How do you know what good looks like?
Knowing that places are at a premium I said "yes" to my wife moving there. Since that time the family and I have been impressed with the caring nature exhibited by all the staff with whom we have come into contact in what I believe is a truly difficult job. They work hardly and display a level of patience I can only envy, Friends who have also visited have, when speaking to them, have said "aren't the staff wonderful". They are. |
