The Lodge

From the outset the management at the Lodge were professional, knowledgable and caring for my mother's needs. They were very efficient and anticipated things like applying for nursing fees to be paid by the NHS before I had even thought about it. The nursing staff were excellent. They sat with my mother for ages when she was distressed and anxious, and were so caring. The standard of nursing was good, although my mother did not think much of some of the bandaging on her legs! They were open to listening to my viewpoint also. I did have trouble trying to get them to refer for hospice care before my mother became end stage. I wanted her to be able to get to know the hospice nurses while she was still reasonably alert. The care staff were mostly good, and where there were one or two problems, they were dealt with. In common with most homes, call bell answering was often slow. They food was good and standard of presentation and menu choice outstanding. Wine was available with meals and the dining room and tables was very smart. A lovely conservatory led into a very pleasant garden where there was plenty of out door seating. The activities were respectful and appropriate to normal life. Outings once or twice a month. A certain amount of one to one time with an activity organiser could be had.
