Originally a private house built over 150 years ago, Cleveland House is a grand, classical home with elegant period features situated in Edgerton, Huddersfield.
The home has recently awarded the Gold Standards Framework award for end of life care.

Cleveland House provides a range services for elderly residents, from short-term and convalescence to long-term, nursing care and respite.

Food
Residents can choose to eat in the dining room overlooking the beautiful gardens or in their bedrooms of they prefer. Nutritiously balanced dishes are prepared daily, catering for all diets and using fresh produce including herbs from the home&s garden. Each resident&s diet is continually monitored to ensure that they are eating enough and adapted if they are not. Our chef ensures that special occasions do not go unmarked and creates cakes for each resident&s birthday.
Activities
A varied programme of daily activities includes dominoes, bingo, armchair belly-dancing and a film club. Green-fingered residents are welcome to help with some gentle gardening and the home is regularly visited by a hairdresser, mobile library and local entertainers. Additionally we organise outings to local garden centres, for pub lunches and boat trips on the canal.
Each month Cleveland House holds a special event with a different seasonal theme. These are adapted to the individual capabilities of the residents, so everyone gets to enjoy something that interests them.

Oct 10 2022 The lack of communication from this place is awful. No feedback, on residents no follow ups, no returning of phone calls as promised. They do as little as possible and dont come across as caring or compassionate. When you dare to ask questions about the care of the resident. they become quite patronising and defensive. They need to realise us asking about a person in their care is not a negative. Its about us caring and being concerned, its not a criticsm. We have every right to be concerned about our loved ones, something they need to understand. Also the nurse rolling her eyes between her and another member of staff in front of the visitor who is asking the nurse a simple question is totally unprofessional. They just do the bare minimum. I would never recommend this place to anybody.

Aug 27 2015 Mum went into the home very ill from hospital. Within 3 weeks she had been on a trip, had her hair done, which really lifted her spirits, had her toenails cut by a professional podiatrist and had several pamper sessions, all of which were optional. Daily nutritional and delicious, freshly prepared meals, with choices, allowed me, as a daughter to relax that she was being fed well. Any medical needs were catered for without fuss and the staff are so efficient and very friendly. I cannot praise this place enough for what they are doing for mum and allowing us to do for mum. Communication is also excellent and everything is monitored on charts by the carers and, separately by the nursing staff. Thoroughly recommended!
