We visit my relative up to 4 times a week and have done so during the three years that she has been here. The staff are totally attentive and treat her with respect and dignity. She is never isolated as staff pop in to her room on a regular basis. She doesn't get out of bed as often as she should, but this is down to choice. Food is never left in her room. If she requires food and drink at night it is always supplied for her The chef has catered for her wishes to have jacket potatoes when required. She always comments when she has her favourite dinner of Liver and Bacon. She loves the one to one sessions and the carers too, know so much about her early life. Her room is always clean and tidy, with no offensive smells. Her hair is washed and put in rollers as the need arises. She is taken to assisted bathroom for baths. The home is very clean and the reception is extremely attractive and welcoming. The management are totally approachable and deal with any problems quickly and effectively. Of course over the years we have had to make a comment over the years but this is always rectified.

We have visited this home regularly, at different times and days of the week. In our opinion if you are considering this home it would serve you to be very cautious of first impressions and not be taken in by reviews only. Try not to be fooled by the pleasant & welcoming foyer (with the lovey scented areas, china tea cups etc), the inviting lounge/conservatory area along with the eye catching notice boards with the generous amount of activities and the cheerful photos displayed, as we did. Delve further and you will find many residents in isolation within their rooms, left in their beds for many hours of the day, with food/drink left by their bed sides as many of the poor souls are unable to feed themselves ( which in turn leaves the lounge/conservatory unoccupied). Look beyond the portrayal that staff have limited time to spend with these residents as many do not have the patience, nor the caring compassionate attitude. Let alone the competence to help the residents with their holistic needs particularly during meal times. As for the “High quality nursing care” they advertise. This is certainly not what the residents would get or what one would expect under the nursing care. There is no comparisons to ”NHS hospital nursing care” (apart from wheeling a medication trolley around) and I would leave the care homes definition to your own interpretation. Look beyond what the home is trying to portray, put trust in your own judgement and instinct before leaving your relatives there.
