My Father spent about 16 months at this Nursing Home until we moved him to another one.
We were loathe to move him but really couldn't put up with the problems there any longer.
My Father was often unwashed, unshaved and wearing dirty clothes when we visited - sometimes other peoples, even though his clothes were all named.
When we first placed him there the care was good but gradually went downhill - staff were very dissatisfied and would openly complain to me about their conditions and the work.
Many of my Father's clothes, shaver etc went missing and I had to replace both his pair of glasses twice when they were broken or lost.
The Management seems depressed and treats any complaints as what should be expected!
The final straw was when his chair was given to a new resident and we were asked to pay £2,500 for a replacement for my Father to use!
One to give a miss to - I am only comfortable to complain now that he has passed away. Suffice to say that this person stayed some 16 months, and had mental and behavioural problems. Another relative was in the same home and both treated each other with contempt. 99.9% of complaints are raised during the client’s stay and most in the early part. The entry was made 1 year after leaving us and several months after the client passed. It is intended only to be vindictive and not helpful to people choosing. Please refer to the web site www.royalbay.co.uk and the many testimonials for RBNH from clients highly appreciative of the staff and quality of care at RBNH. At the time of the clients stay the CQC Regulator’s Report dated 29 Nov 2013 indicated that the home was fully compliant and had no problems. Royal Bay Homes are the only homes with a no argument / full cost replacement of any personal item should it go missing and be attributable to a RBNH ‘fault’. The client used our Royal Bay recliner chairs and through misuse put them out of action. The suggestion to replace with a private purchase was at the request of the author and not ours. ‘His chair given to a new resident’ was in fact the chair loaned temporarily to the Author’s father by Royal Bay at the time but it had been previously earmarked for another client in another room. This lead to the Author’s offer to purchase a chair. The two pairs of glasses were damaged by the client himself and were taken from the home by the Author as they accepted that it was not a RBNH fault and intended to repair at their own expense. It should be reiterated that this client stayed with us for 16 months. This is in direct contrast to the tone of the NHS entry. Continued client dissatisfaction would be met with a move after several weeks, say 6 – 10 weeks at the most. RBNH must have been doing something right for the stay to be extended to 16 months. Our fees are generally acknowledged to be mid to low range and very good value for money for the extensive service provided. |
