My mother has been at the Home of Comfort for nearly 3 years and is now 93. She has thrived there and we would say she is in better health now than when she was first admitted. The Home is not modern or plush, but it is outstanding when it comes to the quality of care, compassion, support and cleanliness. Mum is not always the easiest of residents, but the staff are so kind, patient, friendly and attentive and have brought the very best out of her. The activities are very good and there's lots of music, which my mum loves. You will often hear her singing in the dining room, which is a joy to behold. Despite her dementia, she is very happy there and - as she herself frequently says - she is never bored. We can't fault the Home and if I had to mark it out of 100, I would give it 100. |

My mum has been in this care home for nearly two years and now sadly is receiving tender loving care at this home. I live in Norfolk and visit when I can which isn't very often, but my siblings visit mum far more frequently. I was so sad when mum had to stop being independent and move to a home, but am glad that she receives good care, kind words and is safe in the home chosen for her. As mum becomes frailer I know that she is being well cared for, she is looked after well, and kept comfortable. Thank you Home of Comfort. |

My Mum spent fifteen months in The Home of Comfort.
When she was no longer able to manage in her own home my brother and I visited a number of nursing homes in Southsea. From our initial visit we were impressed by the homes friendly atmosphere.
The staff were brilliant with my Mum, who initially was a bit difficult. They were always patient and helped her settle. She took her own special chair from home which enabled her to raise her legs and made her more comfortable. The home provided a special bed and cushions for her chair.
As Mum's condition deteriorated the home sought advise from a dietician and fortified drinks were provided. Mum's food needs were catered for, latterly including puried foods.
When Mum became unable to shower she was given bed baths.
I never visited her and found her to be dirty. Her pads were changed frequently as was her bedding and nighties. I would recommend this home because they really care. |
