My wife and I would like to thank the staff at Longton Nursing home for the excellent care given to my mother during her stay with them. The friendliness, quality of care, compassion, cleanliness, choice/ standard of food and most importantly the dignity were second to none. The staff took the time to get to know my mother, her likes and dislikes; most of all they knew what made her smile. For that we are eternally grateful. No matter how busy they were, they always had time to chat with us and made us feel welcome. Sadly my mother passed away on 30th October 2015 in a home where people truly cared and residents truly mattered.

My mother who was a resident at Longton Nursing Home for nearly 6 months sadly passed away on 30.10.2015. I feel compelled to put down a few words expressing our family's eternal gratitude for the care and compassion with which my mother was treated during her stay. My mother was looked after in an exemplary manner, she was always clean, well fed and offered plenty of drinks throughout the day. ALL the staff treated her with dignity and respect and would take time out to sit and talk to her if she was feeling lonely or confused. As a family we were always made to feel welcome when visiting, nothing was too much trouble and we will forever be indebted to the staff for making my mothers last few months as comfortable as possible. A fitting mission statement for this home would be "Excellent Care with Compassion". Thank you, once again.

My mother in law J has been in Longton 8 weeks plus now, diagnosed with dementia, recently lost her husband and having been hospitalised with a few falls, the most recent breaking her hip and dislocating her shoulder. She was totally confused, refusing to accept she had problems and turning down placements in various care homes, the hospital were under pressure to have her moved on, we the family were under pressure to find a suitable place and hope that J would accept it. I initially visited Longton and was shown around by the matron, the warmth and passion for care was immediately evident. I explained the position with J and the matron agreed to assess her in hospital stating that if J didn't accept a place they couldn't force her. We hardly slept that night worrying whether J would be on her best behaviour for the assessment, she was and was offered the placement, we were so relieved as J was now in a place where more one on one care and nursing was available to her. The staff, and I mean from the cleaning staff upwards have been absolutely brilliant, I can't stress how much we admire their commitment to those in their care, always a ready smile and a cup of tea on hand and real caring support when we have a tough day. Plenty of staff always on hand, good meals good accommodation and a real homely atmosphere, there is lots of areas for sitting down to chat and meet others, ample parking and a nice quiet garden area at the back to enjoy the plants and sun. Longton is everything we could have wished for for J and more, and would highly recommend it to anyone in a similar position. It is not the buildings etc that make this nursing and care home outstanding, it is the people who are employed there, as I said earlier even the cleaners are almost indistinguishable from the carers with their cheerful manner and willingness to help whatever the situation, and this care and compassion runs from the top. The matron and deputy run a very efficient happy ship with an excellent crew and we are eternally grateful that J has been accepted as a passenger.
