Dec 25 2022 A nightmare at Brocklehurst. My family member had Dementia & completely immobile. Issue's throughout the entire period of residency, with very poor communication from the outset, between staff, unorganised, poor management, poor room hygiene, poor personal care, allergens given, activities not person-centred for someone with Dementia. As the 1st residency in a nursing home, it has left a most negative view of what we experienced after having diligently looked after our family member for a very long time. Many safeguarding concerns reported from either healthcare professionals and also from our observations. Reminding staff (& the manager) again & again to tend to special care needs, meds were not given properly on occasion, & other issues. Please don't be fooled by the CQC rating. Brocklehurst do require improvement on 'Safety' but its beyond that with a host of other issues going on, communication and training being the key issues. Staff turnover should raise a few eyebrows.
