My father moved into the home in July this year. He was moved from Nottingham to Derby so he could be closer to me. Dad was bedbound and had terminal cancer he needed 24 hour care. After visiting driffrent nursing homes we decided on shelton lock. From day one the level of care given to my dad was outstanding. After the first week I knew we had made the right decision. Every single member of staff showed my dad professional, loving care and kept his dignity. My dad was happy and content he felt looked after and safe. My dad was only there 8 weeks until he passed away In September. In those 8 weeks there was nothing they wouldnt do to make those last days special. He wanted to go into the garden to feel the sun but he thought it would be impossible because he was bedbound and hadnt left his flat for nearly 2 years. They found a solution with in minutes and produced this large adapted chair. He got to sit outside and eat an ice cream with his grandson. I will be forever grateful to them making memories for us and looking after my dad into his last days. Thank you your all angels in my eyes. Forever grateful. |

My family member was recently in the home. I can not thank them enough - the care was exemplary, not just of my family member but of the family also. Highly recommended if you need first class care |

My mum went into Shelton Lock for what was meant to be two weeks respite care due to a terminal illness. She was treated terribly the entire time she was there, as if she didn\t deserve a bed.She lasted 5 days before leaving, due to the poor care she was receiving. During that time she wasn\t offered a shower. When she asked when she could get one, or to be shown where it was, it was never the right time. Too early, or too late in the day. First day there she wasn\t given any food. Another day no water. The meals were half a sandwich and 4 cheese puffs. Sometimes cold soup if she was lucky. The Sister told her she was lucky, she could talk and walk unlike most people that were in, said in an aggressive tone. I\m sure she feels really lucky with the terminal lung disease that her palliative team say she could pass away from at any moment. This was overhead by a carer who thought it would be a wonderful idea on her next visit to sing you can talk, you can walk to her. This is the behaviour of bullies not carers and they should be ashamed |
