The Cedars Care Home

Writing just one experience is very hard so I decided to write my whole experience. Dad has Alzheimer's with some aggressive behaviour. It was easy to sort the medication for the behaviour but to find a new home for dad! Being a carer in the community for 30 yrs I needed to find a high-quality home that covered Dad's needs and my emotional guilt of putting dad in a home.The Cedars was recommended to me by mental health nurse for dad to have respite and then a resident in April 2019. It was the best decision ever for both dad and I, he is content there.

When my sister first set foot inside The Cedars, after visiting two care homes which she did not like, she said "I like this place". Her view and ours, has not changed since she became a resident in late February 2018. All the staff are friendly, helpful and capable and this modern care home is very clean with excellent décor and facilities and the ensuite bedrooms are of a good size. The food provided is good, ample and varied and is it a shame that my sister's breathing difficulties have resulted in her being unable to enjoy this to the full. I felt it took a little while for the care home to react to her lack of appetite and her need to have help when eating but as soon as this was recognised, the response has been swift and the resulting actions have been encouraging. The ambience of The Cedars is very good. Enabling residents to receive visitors in peaceful surroundings.
